Replicat Artwork FAQ
How do I send artwork to Replicat?
- Ideally, send us a URL link to your artwork files and we will download it (www.yousendit.com provide a free service if you don't have your own file transfer service)
- Email attachments are limited to 8MB per email. Please don't use email for larger files as we will NOT receive them and have no way of knowing you sent them.
- OR, simply post us a CD-R containing your files.
What is bleed and when should I use it? All artwork should be extended 3mm beyond the template border. This is shown as a faded grey area around our templates for paper parts, digipacks and wallets. Bleed is used to avoid tiny white edges appearing on your artwork when we guillotine it. Note: There is no bleed required for disc face artwork.
What format should I provide the artwork in? We prefer high resolution (300 dpi) CMYK PDF files. Check with Replicat customer service 1300 727 685 or sales@replicat.com.au for other accepted formats.
Do I need to embed fonts? Yes, we do prefer you to convert text to vector art (e.g. convert to outlines/paths/shapes), but please don't embed the artwork template as well!
How do I avoid jagged edges on the text? Convert the fonts to vector art (also known as 'embedding' fonts, or converting to paths/outlines/shapes depending on the graphics software being used). Note: This is quite common in Photoshop, so please ensure that you enter text at 600 dpi rather than 300 dpi.
How do I prepare artwork for special colours, foils, spot UV and embossing? Provide this artwork as a separate clearly labelled single solid colour file (e.g. process magenta). Please ensure dimensions are identical to the main file and email very clear instructions to alert Replicat staff to these requirements. When we proof the artwork, these special effects will be shown as a solid magenta overlay on the main CMYK proof.
How can I leave some silver areas on my disc to shine through? Create a special white base separation as a single solid colour (e.g. process magenta) file. Note: The solid colour areas will be printed with a white base, so you need to leave the silver areas unprinted. Confused? Call us! :) 1300 727 685.
How can I match colours exactly (e.g. corporate colours, close CMYK match etc)?
- CMYK components: you must provide a colour accurate printout for us to match to. These can be purchased by visiting a printer like Snap or Kinko’s in your area and asking for a colour accurate printout on COATED STOCK. It is solely your responsibility to ensure that the printout is colour accurate. Replicat can offer this proof output service on selected products.
- Pantone/spot colour components: Please phone us to discuss. Pantone printing typically involves a surcharge, but it is highly recommended for exact solid colour matches e.g. corporate 2-colour logos etc.
I need a different artwork template that doesn't appear on Replicat's list. If your exact required template does not appear here, then please use any of the templates as a starting point for panel sizes, but check with us via email/phone if a special template is created. We can create custom wallet/digipack templates for $200+GST, but this amount is FULLY REFUNDABLE when your order is invoiced.
