Inkjet Print + Varnish (Disc Face)

Used for: Short run high resolution full colour CMYK disc printing

Run sizes: Up to 200 units

Short production runs of discs are expensive to print using an offset press, due to the high setup costs involved.

A more practical method is to inkjet print the disc face of a duplicated CD-R or DVD-R disc. High speed automated disc face printers handle this process, applying CMYK inks to the disc surface.

Inkjet inks are not particularly colourfast, so the discs are then screenprinted (see screenprint - disc face) with a colour fast varnish coating.
